Privacy Policy — Zanjabeel
Last updated: 15 July 2026
Zanjabeel (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile application for learning spoken Palestinian Levantine Arabic, aimed at Hebrew-speaking learners. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By creating an account and using the App, you agree to this policy.
The App is intended for adults (18 and older). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Who is responsible for your data
The App is operated by the Zanjabeel team. For any privacy question or request, contact: adi.berenson@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive and store your email address, display name (if provided), the sign-in provider, and a unique account identifier. If you sign in with Apple using a private relay email, we store that relay address instead of your personal one.
- Voice recordings. When you practise speaking, the App records short audio clips of your speech through your device microphone. These clips are used to play your answer back to you and to assess your pronunciation and progress.
- Learning data. Your lesson progress, scores, selected course and track, and a language/gender preference used to personalise lesson content.
- Usage and activity data. Basic in-app activity — such as when you open the App and how long you use it — and technical logs used to operate and debug the service.
- Device and technical information. Standard information needed to deliver the service, such as app version and general device/network information.
We do not collect payment information, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To deliver lessons, generate audio, transcribe and score your spoken answers, and track your learning progress.
- To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the App.
- To communicate with you about your account or the service when necessary.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers and AI processing
We rely on trusted third-party providers to run the App. They process data only on our behalf to provide the service:
- Google Firebase — authentication (Google / Apple sign-in) and database storage of account and learning data.
- Google Cloud Platform — cloud storage for audio clips, and speech-to-text and text-to-speech processing.
- AI/ML providers (e.g. Google Cloud, Anthropic) — to power conversational practice and to interpret and score your text and spoken input. Your inputs may be sent to these providers to generate responses; they are not used to train their models on your data under our configuration.
- Apple — when you choose Sign in with Apple.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored and processed on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may be located in the United States and/or the European Union. By using the App you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own.
Data retention
We keep your account, learning data, and voice recordings for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal information, including your voice recordings, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
Your rights and choices
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing adi.berenson@gmail.com.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
- You can revoke microphone access in your device settings, though speaking exercises will not work without it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR. We honour these rights for all users.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our storage and databases. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
Children
The App is intended for users aged 18 and older and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may be communicated in the App.
